"The FEI Jumping Committee has decided that the previously authorised eQuick hind boots eUp model, with the purple plastic insert designed to prevent the fastener that wraps around the boot from exerting pressure on the back of the tendon, will no longer be allowed as of 1 January 2019.
This decision is based on horse welfare grounds further to incidents in which the plastic insert has fallen out, broken or been modified, resulting in a boot that puts pressure on the back of the horse’s tendon. Clarification to this effect has been added to the Jumping Stewards’ Manual for 2019."
